Justin Walter - Bird Higher Than Cloud LP

Originally released as a double cassette in 2012, this pared-down version of that dense transmission represents the earliest sketches, experiments, and attempts at what would become Walter's ambient practice. Still with one foot in jazz gigs and learning the ropes of the EVI (Electronic Valve Instrument), there's a sense of playfulness and naive unknowing throughout these tracks, many of which stop short in abrupt shyness or stare just a little too long at a single detail. It's a reflection of the strange state of purity that happens when something is beginning, and the joy here is one yet to be sanded down by experience.
